Well our only back up is even worse. Our GKing position is awful. We really need to address this rather than an out field player IMO. Is Mignolet that bad I ask? what if he was available? What is it with this rumour about Ruddy?

We should just replace every player who isn't totally boss for 90 min in every game. That should solve everything.

Last season was an anomaly. Loads wanted him out before he had a great run of form last year. He has a very high ceiling and can pull of brilliant games, but his consistency is very poor and he has some very obvious and terrible flaws to his game.

David Marshall maybe? He looked good for Cardiff when we played them last season, but I won't pretend to know how good he actually is.

We absolutely need to be looking for a keeper to at least challenge Tim, if not outright replace him because he's been an absolute horror this year...and I feel that him reverting to his mean rather than a blip in form.

Howard is a form keeper. He has a good year, or few months, and then a terrible year or few months. It's not good enough for a team that wants to challenge for top honours. I'm not saying Howard is a bad keeper. I'm saying he's not good enough for a team that wants to break into the top 4.

He needs replacing, but I don't think replacing him is anywhere near the top of Bobby's agenda. He will be with us for at least another season, at least!

Thing is how many of our players are upto top 4 standard? Coleman, maybe McCarthy? Barkley and Stones will be but right now Howard is about our level, not just because we cant afford anyone else decent either. A top keeper isn't going to want to play behind our inconsistent back line.

Fair points.

We need a young keeper then. We have a load of players that will hopefully develop to that standard. Few currently are -
McCarthy, Baines, Coleman, Mirallas would all be able to play for a top 4 team regularly.

Barkley, Lukaku, and Stones should develop that way. Hopefully Besic, Lego, and Galloway as well.

To me that means we need to fill in the positions there that aren't good enough and don't seem to have anyone coming through that will be - another winger or two, and a GK. Then backups.

We need to do something about GK...Robles doesn't fill me with much hope from what I've seen. I try to be very patient though, so I suppose he could surprise.

Tim teaches Joel how to catch/act like a goalie
Joel teaches Tim how to kick and distribute a ball to other people than Distin.

After several months you have two great keepers.

Never mind where he is now, would he be better than Howard and Robles. If it is for the good of the team I do not care where a player comes from Everton first and foremost, no time for stupid prejudice.
