What is it with Everton and class 'keepers, Southall, Martyn, Howard...

whoever plays in sticks tomorrow, I'm quietly confident that we have enough in each department to cater for the opposition, won't be easy up there, McCarthy will have them fired up after the 'ammers game, and this won;t be straight forward, although I really feel that Everton will be victors.

Sounds like a precautionary comment on the OS otherwise we might reasonably expect to have 3 keepers in the squad for the game (unless you argue that a half-fit Howard sits on the bench in the event of being needed)

Everton manager David Moyes has told goalkeeper Tim Howard that he must stay at the top of his game if he is to remain first-choice for the Toffees next season.

Moyes has served up the warning to the USA international after he brought Slovakia number one Jan Mucha to Goodison Park to offer stiff competition for the in-form glovesman and, despite admitting Howard has excelled this term, he believes the competition will act as a good thing for the Merseysiders.

Speaking to reporters, Moyes said: "Tim Howard has been terrific this year.

"He has been reliable and consistent, but what we need is pressure on positions and I felt there was a chance to do that with Tim.

"He will have more competition next season. Tim has not had an injury this season that has kept him out of games, but will have a bigger level of competition next year.

"One of our best performers this season will need to raise his game next season. Players don't mind that competition. Tim will see it as being what's right for us."
