Rob, Premier league rules state that loan moves can be made permanent outside of the transfer window.

I found this on the official site:

Howard is now an Everton player, with the contract signed this week replacing the season-long loan deal agreed with Manchester United last summer.

So does this mean he will be ok to play against United??? If the loan deal is replaced then I think he would be able, unless they wrote that stipulation into the new contract. I guess the only way we will know is at noon on the 28th of April.

I wouldnt be that bothered if we didnt get Howard! Hes ok and steady in most ganmes but prone to error and can look a bit panicky at times!

Its not spectacular saves that make a keepr (he is a good shot stopper)!
It iis also about (1) were they save the ball to i.e direction out of harms way!
(2) Coming and collecting crosses and decissivness (3) And above all else confidence in decison making!

I couldnt describe howard as being any better then ok on any of the above!

2.5 mill not worth any more!

Better keepers IMO:

Robert Green (West Ham Reserves).

David Marshell (Celtic/Norwitch on Loan).
Craig Gordon (Hearts).

2007 was well weird.

Robert Green or Tim Howard.

No contest there.
