Shameful if them allegations are true. All for the board moving on but at the end of the day it’s just a game of football, don’t need to assault or threaten anyone over what is essentially a game.

You can bet a failing board gets unacceptable threats from a tiny minority of thugs. However, that statement has effectively tarred the entire fanbase. And it's been done to paint the board as victims and any opposition to them as malicious. There is no way back for this board now.

Shifts narrative away from years of negligence + incompetence.

Makes them real victims, terrorised by a bitter, aggressive, never satisfied fanbase.

There may have been abusive (even threatening) messages (never acceptable), but makes it sound like widespread + condoned by majority of fans.

And timed for maximum impact.

Unpopular post of the day this it seems.

Let's say for arguments sake some idiot sent a threatening letter (correspondence could be many things). That's bang out of order.

I'm not sure releasing a statement is the smartest idea though. We now have accusations of it being made up to blacken the fans. If it is that's really low, but let's give benefit of the doubt here. Some of ours are not below it, so it is possible. Think bedsheets and a certain Spaniard in recent times.

On the other hand, if the board quietly decided not to show there'd be shouts of cowardly shithouses all over the shop. Which ironically, they're getting anyway.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

No matter the truth it belies a club utterly at odds with itself and in a bad bad place. What a sorry sorry mess.

I agree the club and its fanbase us in a terrible mess. I've never seen Everton fans or the club in a more miserable light.

I don't care whether what I say is popular or not. The truth is not related to popularity in any causal way.
