Threat of villa

Still recon Villa will be round about us at the end of the season.

They are signing older players on massive wages, and had already spent the Grealish money.

They will be like us. Spend a lot of money and high wages and hit a ceiling which is between 5th to 8th. The gap from the teams from 5th to 1st is massive. You need a great amount of luck to break into the top four. Leicester did it without any injuries all season.

Then then spending catches up to you and you are back to the start again.

Just some takes on Digne"

"He was great, very good debut."

"Amazed at his control, it's on another planet; whatever concerns I had about him soon disappeared."

"Nothing against Matt Target, but Digne's the real thing isn't he? It's the technique that frightens me, you can just see a real top-level player there when he a plucks lofted passes out of the sky."

"Very good first game, think we looked a lot better with him on the left."

etc, etc.

My manc supporting brother in law said he looked really good as well.

No one to blame but ourselves

If we were a competently run football club then the likes of Villa and Leicester wouldn't be an issue, we'd be doing our thing and chugging along nicely

I don't fear other clubs doing good business or having good plans, I fear my club for being one of European football's longest running practical jokes
We hold that title. Doing a Leeds is now a well known phrase. Not many clubs can build and finance a new stadium. Plenty of teams run badly we have taken 16 years to get back count yourself lucky.

I always liked Villa, but with slippy g there, i do see a potential rivalry emerging.

Villa on Saturday played like a team, with all the characteristics of their manager.

Gerrard was a snide shitehouse of a player, and his Villa team were a reflection of that on Saturday.

villa will have a good season, maybe a good couple of years.
maybe have a few days out in europe, challenge the top 6/7.
but they wont win anything and in the end it will all unravel, the rs will come for stevie g.
villa will get back in its lane,
unfortunetly its a closed shop!

Sounds like they arnt too happy with Digne. Last 2 games.

He gets forward more but he's a defensive shitshow.

The amount of hit and hope passes he hit today was worrying. Hitting it to people at knee height as well.

Just a [Poor language removed] Matt targett by the looks of it

Does this guy have any defensive responsibilities at all?

McGinn is playing fullback against Newcastle here.

With respect it doesn’t worry me. He is their problem now. In my opinion has some ability but is overrated and not a great loss
