But it’s a shame, we all knew he was a be trick pony, and he’d be found out for his “Gung Ho” approach to every game he had in Scotland.

Sadly, it means he won’t get the Liverpool job, which I was oh so desperate to se him get… would have been Souness pt. 2.

Some of the money he’s spent…

Digne - £25m (what a deal for us, btw)
Coutinho - £17m
Carlos - £26m (looked dire against us before his injury)


They’re all on astronomical wages, same as that Kamara.

It’s like they’ve watched what we’ve done and said “Right, they did poorly, but let’s do it anyway”.

Smith’s signings weren’t much better.

Buendia, Ings and Bailey for a combined total of £87m. Jesus.

Out of that list, I rate Kamara and Digne and still reckon we did good business on the latter.

For me, it’s the wages.

It’s the same thing which crippled us.

There’s talk that there’s a few players on north of £150k a week. Players won’t leave if they’re earning mega money, like we found out.

£25m for Digne was terrific value, in hindsight.

They should be far better given the squad they have I agree, Buendia is one of those players who for me was too good for the Championship but isn't quite up to the Premier League and Bailey is a good player in the right setup. Slippy's big problem has been he doesn't know his best team.
