Just looked up that game. Osman x2 and Cahill with the opener. Solano scored for Villa. Didn't even remember him leaving Newcastle!

I remember absolutely nothing of the 1st leg but just had a look and yeah looks like he missed 2. Didn't Wenger make comments about him going down easily at some point when he was at Everton and it started to affect refs decisions? I may have imagined the actual impact it had but I remember it being a bit of an issue at the time.

Yeah he did, the irony of Wenger saying players dive. We suffered because of that, Johnson hardly got any decisions after it.

I remember Blackburn away when we were chasing Champions League and he got booted in the air and we didn’t get a penalty. They also ruled out a James Vaughan goal that night for nothing. Liverpool went on to beat Sunderland and overtake us in the Top 4.

I think Fat Sam said something similar about Tim Cahill diving.

Injuries ruined his career. I think we all had high hopes for him. Still, I wish him all the best.

I wouldn't mind seeing a decent european game. A couple that stick in my mind outside of the obvious ones are the battering we gave Wolfsburg (4-1) and the away game against Metallist Kharkiv, I remember it being a nervy night and Anichebe scoring late to seal it I think.

Remember that Kharkiv game well, McFadden scored what turned out to be a great individual goal after he should have passed about 50 times, never screamed at a player to pass so much until that Barkley goal against Newcastle. Happy to be shown up!

Yeah, Moyes then went to the FA with video evidence of dodgy decisions and then we didn’t get a penalty for something like a year. Everton times.
