2025/26 Thierno Barry

The flip side of that would be the number of headers he's won recently. Whilst I agree he should have connected better, I suspect it's the pressure.

In his head, he needs a goal and I think that's obvious in how he's playing; it's easy to say, but I would be telling him to relax and it will come.
Agree with all that Phil and he did pretty well in build up play until he back heeled that through ball but then seemed to lose all confidence.

That said he doesn't look a predator in the box. His positioning isnt great , lacks anticipation and is on his heels

I'm far from convinced.

So, defender handles the ball off the line but it's considered natural so no penalty (shame that wasn't the case for us earlier in the season) and Barry gets a goal chalked off 'cos the ball deflects from a foot away off a defender onto his hand and they can't punish him fast enough.
The thirst in the conduct of refs to find against us, every single game, does seem to be a growing problem. Yesterday wasn't the day for Moyes to have a go, and he'd played down the Gana incident re fighting to diffuse the situation. But eventually he's going to have to go public with the problem.

Re Moyes and Barry, seems he's committed to continuing with TB and even though progress is slow he is starting to impact games more. Maybe it has been a settling in and getting up to the pace of the league.

He's committed to it cos he's the least worst option. Mediocre.

Lukaku at 30 years old moved to Napoli on a permanent deal for 30m euros in summer 2024.

We always seem to be a split second late with our new dawns. We signed Chermiti 6 months before PSG let Ekitike go to Germany for less. It's as though every gamble we take is a loser before we even start. Statistically it's very peculiar. Less said about maupay the better!

I hope we're already looking to replace in january. Im just not sold. I browsed this thread after united and just kept quiet because although he did ok im still reading stuff that i think is just what you'd expect from any standard forward. I get that people want to big him up. But its bog standard play with no goals.
I'll be amazed if this one works out.
Start looking now for january.

Much as I feel for his efforts, and ignoring the handball aspect, that goal would have been the quintessential ‘needs one to go on off his backside’ effort had it stood.

It had so much slice on it, if he was still at Villarreal, he would have qualified as Maestro Cortador de Jamón.
Two things stood out for me: how utterly incompetent his technique was - miscontrolled, handled, and sliced. And how he celebrated...

As a former amateur goalie, the worst shot in the world to face was the mishit. You could predict where a perfectly-struck ball would fly. You hadn't a hope when a donkey miskicked, like our very own striker did yesterday. People say he had no luck, but you make your own luck. His appalling lack of control caused him to handle that ball. His mishit slice was merely the boom-tish accompaniment to his pratfall. And if that wasn't bad enough, he celebrated like he'd scored the winner in a World Cup final. Thierno, lad, I know you're under pressure and are desperate for a goal, but we were 4-0 down... It isn't all about you. It's a team game...

I appreciate that not every player comes to us as the finished product - but this fanbase deserves better than YTS kids leading the line. I saw enough yesterday to confirm that this fella is not the solution this season - and probably won't ever be.
