Should of Barry converted that glorious opportunity against Sunderland? absolutely, unfortunately the service has been atrocious beyond that chance , we don't link up properly near or in the box, just blast in aimless crosses and never look to play in the striker. I know not everyone is sold on Alcarez but he actually plays through balls and creates moments for the forwards to seize upon

I think watching Dom has given people the idea that a striker can only be expected to score a goal when he’s presented with an open goal tap in from 3 yards.

We are a middling to poor Prem team in a good league - we aren’t going to create bucket fulls of clear chances. How about a striker that scores a goal out of nothing or creates a chance himself?

Who created the KDH goals this last week? Nobody, he did it himself. Same as N’Diaye does sometimes.

We’ve created a decent number of opportunities which quality strikers would turn into proper chances. You can’t just expect to be teed up with simple chances at this level, you need to be able to create stuff for yourself to some extent and he just hasn’t managed to do that at all yet, it’s a big problem.

How is Barry supposed create chances himself when the only time he gets the ball is a lay off 20 yards away from the box? Is he expected to take the ball off of Jack and beat five defenders to shoot on goal?

You don't think Tarks played a role in the goal at Newcastle. I do get what your saying to a certain degree but at the same time to create chances yourself the conditions to be cultivated to even be able to do that. Everything is so rigid and stifled with overall approach towards goal.

He was never bad enough to warrant this level of team. He would easily have got 10 goals in this team, most other teams Centre Forwards would get 10 easily in this team over a season. Unfortunately we have two forwards with the instinct and finishing that would struggle in the Zingari league.

I mean movement is a thing, but yeah let’s ignore that completely and pretend strikers can only score tap ins from 2 yards. I’m fully aware of our attacking limitations, but Barry is part of those limitations. Including friendlies he’s played nearly 20 games without ever actually looking like scoring, I’m afraid some of that has to be on him.

We'd need strikers that can take 5 defenders with zero support, 30 yards from goal.

Not as simple as that. Sadly real life doesn't work like a computer game. Players like Vardy at his age want a nice retirement contract, few years guaranteed income, not a one season offer and then out on the scrap heap because it suits the club/employer.
