2025/26 Thierno Barry

I really don't think a 6 foot 4 fella winning headers against Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw is notable. The strange circumstances of the game dicated we kept hoofing the ball. Most premier league teams don't play like that anymore.

Whenever he had the ball in and around the box, with his feet, he was just shrugged off with ease.

….actually thought some of his hold-up and link play was decent. Encouraging progress.

I’m honestly struggling to take anything away from any of his performances so far that tells me yes this lad will come good. Last night he did as much as you’d expect from a team down to 10 from so early on. Won some headers bit of link up play but again had a “great” game it’s literally the bare minimum you expect off a 80-100k plus a week player who’s cost £20 odd million. Time will tell but for me he needs to start scoring some goals and quick don’t see him being our main striker and we’re desperate for one. If we can make some signings in January we could actually be pushing euro spots I don’t want us to as we don’t have the squad for it but 8-10th finish and look to push for them next season

Is this guy ever going to score a goal? Spare me the "he puts in a shift" rubbish. That's the bare minimum expected from any player. Strikers are judged on their finishing, not on whether they've a great engine to get up and down the park. When was the last time he had a shot on target? The only reason to keep him in the team is that the alternative, Beto, is even worse.

When you're describing a player who one the most headers of any player in the league this year we 'won some headers' you know you're definitely being unbiased and balanced in your analysis

He was a ridiculously good target/out-ball in ridiculously hard circumstances

He's not overall a very good striker for us yet, I'm confident it'll happen but it'll take more time, but you have to give credit where it's due.

We've had plenty of worse striking performances at old Trafford....

The way we're set up to play is a thankless task for strikers at the minute as most of the time were pinging long balls up to them....

Look at how Carlo set up around dcl. The one good season in his career when all he was asked to do was goal hang

Just wish the fans would chill calling it a great performance was a good team performance defensively but pretty poor the few times we went forward, especially at the end better quality and we should have finished the game off twice on the counter. Time will tell and like any player hope he does well but I don’t see it yet and winning the most aerial duels in a game so far this season doesn’t do it for me he’s a 6ft 4 athlete

...as opposed to every other player in the prem who's a 5ft 5 fatso?

There are some miserable knobs hanging out on this thread , I thought Barry had a strong performance yesterday was effective in his link up play, and dominant in the air. Unfortunately we had ten men on the pitch for the majority of the game so we didn't create any chances for him seize upon. He keeps displaying continued improvement on the pitch and the goals will come.

Yeah. A bunch of them. Sometimes wonder if they get more joy from doomer posting on the Internet than Everton winning football matches. Strange bunch.
