Beto isn't finishing his chances, shown in the stats one of the worst finishers this season.

A striker having a poor cumulative xG isn't just down to lack of service. That's what happens when you only look at numbers, you don't understand the context.

Of course, a good striker also creates chances for himself through his movement and anticipation.

However watching him, I can see him making intelligent runs and he is making those movements to be more involved in play. These just aren't the patterns of play that his teammates are used to yet. This is natural for new players, and they are still getting used to eachother.

Beto gets more chances partly because of his movement in the box, but also because it is his movements and these are better understood by those who have played with him.

The more Barry plays, the more his team mates will know where and when he wants the ball, and the more he will work out where and when his team mates will want to release it. All about adjustments.

Can see that xG in game increasing the more he plays as a result. But the point still stands; he's not really had enough chances with which to judge him on yet.

Still only started 3 games in the league? Or is it 4 now?

As for Barry and Beto, it is fair to criticize them for the chances they have fluffed. They are not getting consistent service. Half chances and most of their looks are very contested. Ndiaye and Grealish are doing the best they can but KDH is not necessarily very creative or direct and we have zero fullback play. You swap KDH for Charly and the strikers are almost certainly more potent but you lose the control of the game you get with KDH and you play a more counter attacking style. Pick your poison I guess.

He has had only 5 starts and less than 500 total minutes in a new league, a new team and a new country.

I can see clear improvement so far and am happy to be patient to see how he progresses.

The service isn't the issue. He's performed very poorly, but in the last few games he's done the basics better than previously, which is something.

Lets see if we try and sign another centre forward in January. There's no reason to if Barry is just being denied service.

As pleased as I am that his hold up play at United resembled DCL moreso than Beto he really needs to score a goal or two soon.

I cannot bear another season of people praising a scoreless striker's hold up play while we struggle to score a goal constantly.
