2025/26 Thierno Barry

Young. New club. New club. Limited enough minutes. No value in overly criticising him so far.

We've all seen players shine bright and do nothing, and others do nothing and come good.

Give it til the end of the season

Couldn't really afford this to be one of those oh well let's see how it goes signings. At £30m we needed him to hit the ground running.

Tonight was the biggest worry so far. Looked anonymous the whole time he was on.

If you look at their line ups he was mostly up top with someone else, which makes signing him to play up front alone here even more mental.
He was the same with the French team in the summer he was mostly coming in off a wide starting piont not playing a straight down the middle centre forward.
Wish we would go two up top sometimes its so boring seeing a forward just isolated up front every bloody week.

With how badly both of them are playing it'd be a brave manager that throws caution to the wind and puts them both in. Their link up play has been so poor we'd have no option but to throw crosses into the box all game and with Mykolenko and O'Brien at full back I can't be bothered with that.

How badly he is playing? We literally have created him zero chances other than Aaron couple of headers in his last 3 games.

We created him absolutely zero today.

I struggle to understand those who write him off, West Ham completely packed in and it was basically him vs. 3-4 bodies in the box. There was 1 cut back late that was just behind him.

I don’t think he’s shown much, but I don’t really think he’s had the opportunity to.

We had enough of the ball and the play for him to get involved. He was anonymous and that shouldn't have been the case given the way the game was.

A lot of the time when nothing is getting created it's because the striker is in the wrong positions and can't do anything to worry opposition defenders.

A 55 year old Vardy would show more promise than these two.
We signed the wrong Barry!

This. The “we don’t create anything for them” is overused. He has to move, make runs, check back, come deep just to get a touch. It’s not just him it’s Beto too, although Beto does make a few little runs, but only when he knows he will defo get it played through. They both need to be constantly making their marker think. Even just to make a gap for others. At the moment, I could happily mark Barry.

We do now need to recognise that the likes of Grealish, KDH, even Garner do have quality on the ball. Grealish will get pelters this week for backing his defender into the box, then recycling back to Myko or Garner. Pretty sure all those players would try a pass if there was movement.

We’ve managed to have 2 strikers in our squad that, whilst they have different attributes, neither has any intention to dart in front of their marker when we have the ball out wide. They just stand there waiting for it to be lofted in hopefully. Grealish won’t do that. If they don’t move, he will keep the ball (which isn’t that helpful sometimes).

When the ball is flashed across with pace, neither of our strikers is across their man. Ever. Even some of Myko’s hopeful low crosses are made to look terrible as they are smacked away. But maybe someone could bust a gut to get in front of the defender?

We absolutely needed a striker, almost regardless of age, that instinctively knows where to be to cause maximum damage, just whilst Barry works this out. As it stands, i can’t see him ever scoring unless he keeps one of the headers he occasionally wins from corners under the crossbar.

Ignoring what he is or may become, the timing of us brining in a player at his level without and experiences foil is looking……really really stupid. We’ve spent quite big on a striker that if he hadn’t already played in 5 countries and scored regularly, we’d all say he was ‘raw’ and needed a year on loan.
