2025/26 Thierno Barry

Branthwaite passing to himself, now that's an ideašŸ™„ sadly the others toil with the basics a bit. Seems you don't watch other Prem sides and how they play out. Your posts point towards you being a 15 year old using your Mum's laptop in the basement.
Hard to say now whether O'Brien will move to be a good CB for us in the future, but if he does he'd be a great ball playing CB next to Branthwaite. Otherwise yes we should upgrade Tarks with someone better with the ball at his feet ideally.

But it's almost like...we couldn't also upgrade at fullback, CB and CM this window? Almost like it's a multi-year process to get back up to the top? Almost like...we should be planning for the future rather than just buying 32 year old washed up stop-gaps from the UAE Pro League? And young high ceiling strikers like Barry are a good idea?

Also please don't stop signing off your posts by addressing me as 'son', it'll give me even more daddy issues.

I think that's fair. Up to now he hasn't really shown anything that makes him look dangerous, and that needs to change even in the short term. We're probably not going to see the best of him for a while but I think it's reasonable to say we'd like to see a little bit more when he gets on to the pitch. As you say, hopefully if he gets a bit more time he'll show a few more strings to his bow.
I would telling him that he is starting tonight and the next 2 home games, that spot is up for grabs, unfortunately neither him or Beto have shown they can take it yet.

A young high ceiling striker who can hold the ball well and win headers with his back to the oppositions goal? Definitely!

Ah sorry yes, you want the mythological striker who's both a high potential project and the finished product. Why didn't we just buy one of those

Its 2025, half of our problem is we are still trying to play hold up style football, its ale house stuff these days. Most modern day strikers don't want the ball chucked in at chest/head height, they want it in front of them so they can run onto the ball. I don't even think it comes from Moyes at times, there have been games where he has been screaming at the likes of Pickford to stop with it. With the attack minded players we have in the squad now there really is no excuse for it.

I really think this will continue to be a thing until we massively upgrade our midfield in terms of passing (unless Rƶhl turns out to be absolutely amazing). Neither Garner nor Gueye are good enough at linking defence and attack.

We shouldn't be playing with 2 in midfield imo, I think we would be better with more of a flat 3 type thing, the fullback situation really does kill us tbh.

Yep, i've been saying this for ages. This insistence that we deliberately play long balls even when playing someone like Maupay or Gray up front is mad, it's clearly an on field issue rather than a tactic.

Think it's more that our defenders aren't comfortable on the ball. When under a press they all look dodgy, given that we are forced to go long too often, having the choice of the front two we have it'll be challenging.

Best sticking with the trampoline shins variety obviously. But then in your world Tarkowski and Keane are zipping it around at the backšŸ™„

I'm not really arguing with you to change your mind, it's more of a fascinating insight into someone living in an entirely made up world.

Id love you to point out - in the real world - a single time Barry has had a first touch bounce off him, or a single time I've said Tarkowski and Keane are zipping it about at the back haha

Just close your eyes.Tarkowski zips it to Keane then flicks it on to O'Brien who whips in an inch perfect cross to Barry who traps and turns all in one movement and scores with a perfect half volley...and unicorns are real.šŸ˜‰
