2025/26 Thierno Barry

The Arsenal debacle halted whatever upward momentum he had going. Unless something really clicks preseason it’s hard to see him ever resuming his development here.

A move in the summer feels best for all concerned.
His first goal actually had to be handed to him on a plate by Illy.He is a gangly little wankspangle.

He was awful today. I have been more open to giving him the benefit of the doubt than most I would say but lately I just don’t see the signs of a PL player in his performances. He lacks coordination and any kind of battling qualities that a modern day forward needs

I’d have stuck Keane up front instead of Barry. Was Coleman on the bench? I’d have had him on the right and JOB in as cb. Keane would have held the ball better and probably fired off a couple of shots from distance to test their keeper.

Even if beto is fit i would not want Barry on the bench at this point. More hindrance than help and would rather chuck charlie, george or one of the kids up top
I think Moyes has a responsibility to drop Barry from the bench, to show that you cant stroll round in a derby like he did today, barely even attempting to win anything or hold the ball up, never mind actually making something happen, and still get to come on for 20 minutes in the next game.

If he was dropped from the squad, we’d see whether he actually had any character or desire to get back into it.

I said after the Chelsea game that we should move on. Those that wanted to have the boo had their chance and it was then down to Barry as to how he would serve out his time here.

Today we got our answer. Clearly the lad was just going through the motions. I’d say someone should light a rocket under his ass but he’s too dumb to recognise it

Yep, this. Thought he might be improving. Done with him now. Hope he's got an Arsenal mate reading this thread and telling him how unacceptable his "effort" was in a derby match.

Tbh I can see why we took a punt on him in a general sense:

  • France U21
  • Good strike rate with Basel and a top 4 league with Villarreal
  • Only 23 years old
With just that in mind, the fee was to be expected...but unfortunately has not really worked out for him obviously. Not sure where we go from here, but I do think he will be here through the Summer at least.
