Genuine Q: At this stage, what goal return would be considered a) acceptable, and b) good, come the end of the season?


Personally, I’d take another 5 (total 7) as a sign better things are to come. If he makes double figures I’ll be cock-a-hoop.

I think if he got 10 in the season coupled with an improvement in his hold up.play that would be a decent return for his debut season.

He's great all round but cant hit a barn door.

While Barry has actually done well when given balls and netted 2 cold as a cucumber.

Id say theyre quite opposite actually and we could actually do well with Jackson in and Beto out.

The pattern is the same everywhere he’s been, he takes a while to get used to the league but once the goals start they flow. It was zero goals in 14 and now it’s 2 in 5 games. He was also very close to scoring v Burnley too and should have had a pen v Arsenal.

I just don’t know how anyone can say he isn’t improving, he’s night and day from how he started the season.

When was the last time we had a striker that scored the sort of goal Watkins just has for Villa? Gets the ball on the edge of the box, makes a yard of space and then smashes a shot in.

Because we had Dom for so long, people seem to think a striker can only score a goal when it’s put on a plate.

Don't think Barry has even been that bad this half. The problems have stemmed from different positions on the pitch
