2025/26 Thierno Barry

He will become a good player for us, this season as frustrating as it is will be huge for his development and I would wager we will hopefully see twice the player he is now, next season.

I know people don't want to hear that, a lot of people certainly won't believe that, and I can understand why, but he does have some key traits that are very good and the other stuff at his game can be worked on.

The premier league is one of the toughest leagues to adapt to, he is a young striker he is talented despite what some people would say, and ideally he probably would have had an experienced striker on the bench to let his development be less of a pressure cooker, but the minutes, and exposure will do him wonders.

This is part of the development with young players, Calvert-lewin who some people are keeping comparing him to hated DCL whilst he was in his development phase, he was called a league one striker by many people (which was non sense) but he took a few seasons to develop, the same will happen for Barry. I believe Barry has more potential and I'm happy to be vaulted on this that hu this time next season we will hopefully be having a very different conversation on Barry.

I think it also has to be said our chance creation for strikers is generally very poor, Moyes is historically poor at developing strikers and creating chances for them, they're more of a cog of the team than a focal point.

We need to create better chances, id argue if our chance creation was better then he would score more goals.

If he can end the season on 6 goals than that's ok.

Can we all just agree that we generally have crap strikers? Only good ones who played regularly, in the last forty years were Sharp, Lineker, Yakubu, Johnson (for a season), Lukaku.

With special mentions to the ‘flatter to deceive’ category which were Cottee (would score hatricks against lower league opposition in the league cup, but generally not many goals elsewhere), Saha (always injured), Ferguson (unplayable twice a year but generally injured or sent off and get legend status for some bizarre reason), and Jelavic (good goal scoring record for half a season)
The Yak was a hit & Lukaku.... Joe Royle & The Latch were great goalscorers - Alan Ball 20 league goals from midfield in one season - Roy Vernon & the GV & of course Lawton & Dean - Dixie was a goal machine ....

Fair points. We used to be told that some foreign players needed one season to be able to adapt to the premier league.

Now its expected that with limited service they score goals.

DM stated he would buy players from the Championship?

Who knows with him Joey.

Spent on Dibling and Aznou and we only saw Dibling really vs Burnley and Aznou we should have been told hes not for this season...or one for the future.

Im not particularly confident in Moyes recruitment as its been dreadful since leaving us.

Limited at United, got Sunderland relegated and sent West Ham into a death spiral.

Honestly think your way off the mark with your points. Fast thinking brain regarding when and where to move quickly, as well as ability is key to putting the ball in the net. There's his problem as he lacks in both.

is this the fella who is the same age as the guy Newcastle signed Woltermeade who has also moved to the premier league and the guy from Bournemouth who is 4 years younger than Barry who has 5 goals this season, i personally have not seen anything from Barry to suggest that he is going to make it 🤔
