2025/26 Thierno Barry

Is Alcaraz younger than him?

About the same age at least, night and day between the two
Even ignoring ability, just looking at their effort, intensity, drive, you’re right - night and day. He didn’t get amazing service yesterday but he looked very similar to Dibbling, passive, waiting for the game to come to him rather than trying to make something happen.

I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt whilst acknowledging that there are clear concerns from what I've seen so far.

He gets the full season for me before we can make a proper assessment. I think that's reasonable enough. If he is good enough it will come through. If not he will go the way of many others. It's not like we paid huge money for him.

I don't see that at all.

I think he looks absolutely gutted about how crap he has been so far.
He was pretty frustrated yesterday. I think it's too easy to say he wasn't in the match, and therefore doesn't care.

The whole team was imbalanced yesterday in the first half, but he was definitely part of it. He needs to do better.

At the same time, you look at a guy like Mateta, he was woeful for the first two seasons at Palace.

Not every player is on the same trajectory. Oftentimes taller strikers do take longer to put it together.

Or, they don't. We really don't know at the moment.

How anyone can write off a young player who has only just been brought into the squad, in a different country and in, probably, one if not the hardest leagues in World football after just a few cameo performances just defies logic. A young Messi wouldn't have stood a chance based on our supporters expectations. Let's weigh him up after the season but based on 'opinions' so far the kid will have breakdown before then.

Theres no exact science to it but that blows out the water this thing about the age. I wasnt having it anyway. He's not 18. He's 23 this month. Officialy older than Alcaraz. I want to cut him as much slack as i can but you're exactly right with that point. The same age Mr Alcaraz came on yest and showed its just as much about hunger and application. So i think we should possibly drop the age thing now.

Why do people go to the extreme and start quoting the worlds best players lol.
Unless im really missing the posts and comments Everton fans arent that demanding. Is it not however beyond the realms of expectation to at least think a single shot on target for someone the club payed 27m to score goals for might be a possibility.

No!

Unless I'm wrong didn't even the most prolific goalscorer in modern PL history ie. Haaland, go through a similar period last season and he was an established player. We - as a fanbase - can be very judgemental and demanding especially of younger players but I think it's because we feel we are always playing chase up and trying to compare ourselves with FC Salbutomol...as sad as it is because we know we are better than them.

It’s his thread on an Everton forum mate, should we just leave it blank for the entire season? He’s been crap so far, he’d probably even tell you that himself.

I was watching the game on the telly yesterday with my eldest (teenager) and he remarked that it seemed like Barry was off in his own world, detached from the rest of what was going on on the pitch. I couldn't really argue with him and after he'd said it I couldn't stop seeing it myself. Very odd.
He wasn't the only one to be fair, the team in the first half just didn't seem to have any cohesion at all and it wasn't clear what the plan was. Basically I agree that he looked detached but I wouldn't necessarily blame him for it because it didn't really look like any of them had any idea what they were supposed to be doing.

I dont think we are very demanding tbh in relation to other clubs. I kept reading how harsh we were on calvert lewin. Have you seen some of the vile stuff from leeds fans already? I thought Everton fans were pretty tame in comparison for 5 years.
He hasnt had a shot at goal yet. And im not gona say he isnt arsed. But he isnt exactly portraying someone saying ive got the shirt. I want to keep it.
