I keep telling myself I'm going to stop paying to this stuff, but I got curious and started poking around what's been written about him in Europe (French, German, and Spanish). The gist is the following:

• He's from a poor background, but an athletically accomplished family, and missed out on a traditional academy background.
• He's methodical and dedicated, studying his results and reviewing his progress daily, looking at film, etc., and has worked hard to progress quickly after missing out on early development.
• He has both height and speed, and is good in the air. He has a high work rate and has gotten very smart in one on one play and pressing.
• He went from a disastrous start at Basel, receiving reds in his first two matches and receiving a lot of criticism and racial abuse, which led to a real low and collapses on the field. But he rallied to such an extent that he turned into a serious goal threat and is now seen by friends as extremely confident. He looks up to Erling Haaland and a former coach likens his ambition to Cristiano Ronaldo.

So actually could be missing a lot of chances, according to the stats

not really, hes scored 11 goals but he should of scored 12.

So the chances hes missed equates to 1 goal. So either hes missed a shed load of shots from places of low xg that he was never going to score from (outside the box or really poor angels) or hes missed a few really good chances (which could be a miss on his part or keepers making fantastic saves).

So which ever way you look at it the xg says hes not missing alot of clear cut chances.

Another amongst a number of things that makes modern day football crap.

We can't even enjoy a potential new signing without some form of pie chart popping up.

The xg stat backs him up as a good striker. Or at least scoreing the amount if goals he should be scoring with the shots hes had which is a good sign imo.

You mean the stats that professional football scouts use?

The eye test trumps nothing because people are blinded by bias and as such see what they want to see most of the time.

Stats are facts not opinion and theres a reason why teams are finding major success signing players using these stats. Only have to look across the park to see that.

FWIW: Isak had a 6 goal season in La Liga when he was Barry's age (22).

Imagine what his xG charts looked like for that season
