2018/19 Theo Walcott

Nope, you implied we would basically have to basically beg other clubs to buy him, despite spending the last 6months saying we would easily be able to get our money back on him. I suggested that if we put him up for sale tomorrow, he would interest 90% of the clubs in the league, a figure I then reviewed and agreed was nearer to 65%.

My stance on Walcott has been the same since you kept saying you wanted him sold, if we replace him, sell him, whilst hes "possibly" our best option, then we would probably be best retaining him.

So no Zat, I dont wish to backtrack on anything.

Haha so its not 90% of clubs...only 65% would actively want him..

Teams far below the level were at then...

As hes not good enough.

If you see a player who was bought for 20 plus mil less than a year ago, on £100k plus a week and starting pretty much every game for a club above you you're pretty unlikely to bid for him aren't you?

Unless we drop him or make it clear to other clubs we want rid we won't be receiving any bids for him as it seems a waste of time for clubs below us and he's not good enough for those above us. Doubt he's gonna backtrack [laughing emoji].

Exactly...£20mil i think we could manage in jan from a desperate side but i cant see anyone paying all his wages.

His movement creates a lot of space for others as well as opportunities. Coleman has been so bad, we've just not gotten enough out of that side, but I think it's more Coleman than Theo.

Your blaming coleman for theo walcotts lack of end product...

Thats a new one lol

For Walcott to be sold we need to bring in two players comfortable on the right side. At the minute we have far more pressing concerns than bringing two in. One I would definitely bring in and he would compete with Walcott but depending on the money available I would rather see it spent elsewhere when we will struggle to get an upgrade on Walcott that will be happy to sit on the bench.

I don't think he dovetails with Coleman very well, they both want to run at the by line or cut inside to shoot, they want to occupy the same space and it doesn't work for them, it happens and both are suffering a drop in form because of it.

Yeh it's why I think we need a left-footed player on the right side to help Coleman have more room to push past people (then play in a horrible cross). Works well on the other side with Digne & Bernard.

Upon due consideration, start him against Spurs, I mean he’ll start anyway but hopefully he’ll be up for it against the old enemy.

walcott and bernard combined this season - 31 games, 2 goals, 3 assists

those stats are awful for wingers

bernard has 1 assist in 14 games and 0 goals

walcott has 2 goals and 2 assists in 17 games

i'm not sure how much more time we can give these guys

sooner we bring in lozano and bergwijn the better imo

Bernard is adapting and has very solid passing and key passing stats...

Walcott should be binned in January.

Id like to hope we could get both Lozano + Bergwijn but we already have;

Walcott
Bernard
Richarlison
Lookman
Onyekuru joining

So if we did sign both we would really only need 2 of the others and i think Richarlison, Bernard and Lookman will stay.

What is wrong with you?

I'm blaming the lack of productivity of the right side on both. Walcott deserves credit for his movement and his threat to get behind the defense. He also deserve crap for his lack of finishing and touch. However, Coleman has been terrible this year. Walcott is creating space on the outside for Coleman to exploit, but he isn't doing it.

Bernard has Fulham and Leicester assists , also played siggy in who went round the keeper against Cardiff ?assists don’t tell everything Creating chances is the stat we should be taking note of

Agree. Not only that, but he is one of the few who can get us up the pitch and beat the opposition fullback.

He will score the odd goal, no doubt, but his career stats show he's not prolific, maybe one in seven. That said, Walcott's stats are better, but I'd say Bernard has been more of a regular threat to the opposition than Walcott this season. Stats aren't everything.
