I agree with that his finishing is usually spot on, looks just off it recently, slight injury, personal problems, who knows hopefully be back on form on Sunday.

Yeah he looked a bit sloppy yesterday and I'd of expected him to slot that chance yesterday but like @Eggs has said, the fella gets into positions to score which is more than a lot of players do. Had that fantastic turn against Leicester but a poor shot and could have been laid on by Bernard yesterday. So we could be sitting here after him scoring against Leicester and twice yesterday. That's just how it rolls I guess but hopefully he picks up sharpness wise mate.

Occupies defenders with their fear of his pace, which allows more space for others. His finishing isn't the best, but he is a valuable member of the team.

I think this myself with him.
Even with games like yesterday, i always feel he is a danger to the opposition and can pop up with something.
Sometimes it happens, sometimes it dosent.
I dont undertand the "he hasent played well for us this season" has come from.
Great in some games, average in some, and quiet in a couple, still got 3 goals and a few assists
Lets not start putting him on the chopping block now please lads

yesterday aside id say his finishing is spot on you know

It could definitely be better, it's probably about as good as you'll get for a £20mil winger. It's the rest of his game that makes him an asset to us.

Definitely, the space he provides for others is invaluable. Lookman did look sharp when he came on though, we're in a much better position this year than what we were last season.

He was poor yesterday but he is an enigma for me a little bit Walcott. Of our front 4 he kind of has to play because he's the only natural RW we have. Plus, while Bernard and Richarlison had better games, Theo had more effective moments. Can't believe he didn't bury his 1 on 1 though, I always fancy him to slot when he's through on goal.

would still play him against united but his poor game coupled with Lookmans immediate impact I'd be inclined to start with lookman the next home game if theo has another poor game against united, think theos pace is a lot more usefull away from home not at home against teams who sit back anyway, someone who can pick a pass and dribble like lookman did might be more of use

I thought he was a little hesitant to turn on the burners and bomb up the wing but maybe he was tasked with offering Coleman as much support with Zaha as possible and that’s why. Should have scored that chance but his presence alone causes defenders problems and it creates space for others. If he keeps getting into dangerous positions the goals will come.

He banged the drum about not playing enough through the middle at Arsenal for years.

Wenger didn't play him through the middle that much at all... because he obviously knew his finishing wasn't good enough.

I like him a lot, but he really needs to practice his finishing more.

Walcott doesn't seem to me to be as fast as he was at Arsenal. He's rarely taking the ball past his man. I think his place in the team is vulnerable.

He is a player that is not involved enough but also a player that can cause havoc and get in behind enemy lines. He is a player I would pick almost every game to start but if his involvement is not enough after 70 mins or so then it is the perfect time for Lookman to come on and show us if he is capable enough. Regardless though...theo is a very good player and we are being churlish to write him off.

He's better the more open the game is.

Against Palace it was too crowded and deep for him to break in behind so he struggled for the first 60-odd minutes. Once Pickford saved the penalty though and it became more open, he grew into the game in my opinion.

I don't think it's a coincidence that his best performances this season have been against Bournemouth, Southampton and Fulham which gave us space in behind.

Wouldn't mind us starting Lookman at home and bringing Theo on later while starting Theo in the away games.

He had a typical Walcott game Sunday.
About 70 mins on the clock, he beats Van Aanholt on the outside and realises he's far better than his opponent. We then had a flurry of activity down that side for 10 mins, with Theo running at the LB and committing him.
Before that 70 minute mark, he was pretty anonymous. He also missed an absolute sitter.
I think he's a very decent player and, on his day, an excellent player. I've just come accustomed to these type of performances over the course of his 11-odd year career.
He's not cack, far from it. I'd like to see the Lookman we saw on Sunday putting pressure on him for his place.
