2018/19 Theo Walcott

I think if we even look within our own squad, Richarlison and Bernard are far superior players.

If we were able to add another player of that quality on the right then we'd have one of the best in the league.

I think Walcott is a good player, nothing more and for the wages, transfer fee and age his ability and inconsistency is not on par.
I agree Richarlison and Bernard are probably better but neither of them is in their preferred position on the right. I also agree that adding another high quality player would be ideal but that is also not as easy as just snapping your fingers and having one appear.

I know Lozano is a huge topic of conversation around this forum but aside from the fact that Brands was at PSV there isn't anything there and Barcelona are in the frame too. Another problem is that United, Arsenal and Spurs could all use a true right sided player. Willian isn't young at Chelsea either. It won't be easy to improve on Walcott if we are being totally honest with ourselves.

Should still start imo and lookman should be getting 30 mins every week , once lookman is ready or at least as productive as Walcott he should be sold and replaced by someone like Lozano

Really poor yesterday in all aspects. Didn't track back well enough, didn't attack his man, no conviction at all in that shot he should have buried. Did well to get to the 80th min before being hooked.

I thought he'd actually played well enough in the second half.

People aren't taking the opposition into account.

Every time Walcott had the ball, Palace doubled up on him. He's a player that relies on clever movement to get in behind (like he did for the chance he missed) and also sharp passing from the midfield (again, this was lacking in the first half and only really happened for Theo when Gomes played it into Gylfi for the chance).

Palace sat back and soaked up the pressure and that left Walcott with little-to-no room to operate in. Then, factor in that we were attacking largely down our left, then it's no surprise Walcott wasn't involved.

He should have taken that chance, and it's great that Lookman came on and did well because he's shown that in that type of game he can be a solution. There's currently no need to change because it has to be done on a game-by-game basis and I think next week at Old Trafford will suit Walcott a lot more than today's game did, for example.

..very surprised he missed that chance yesterday, I think of him as a clean striker of a football and decent finisher. Saying that, he continues to get on the end of things and Bernard should have set him up later.

I agree with that his finishing is usually spot on, looks just off it recently, slight injury, personal problems, who knows hopefully be back on form on Sunday.
