That's certainly where all of this is heading...
I mean, I'm struggling with the absolute necessity to protect innocents in Ukraine while we simultaneously don't feel any need whatsoever to protect innocents in Palestine or Lebanon. We're also doing - and saying - nothing on what is happening in parts of Africa, including in the DR Congo where the Rwandan dictator is a golden boy of the West.
The West is mendacious. Citizens are being duped. We either believe in universal human rights or we don't. We can't pick and choose. I understand some crises are closer to home than others, but there's way too much expedience and cherry-picking going on to swallow the official line.
So, yeah, I think Trump is definitely thinking what you're thinking. Divvy up the spoils among despots. All the more reason the EU needs to wake up - and all the more reason why Brexit was insanity.

The horrific tragedy in Sudan, widely being described as the worst modern war too. Twenty five million on the brink, displaced, starving but never seems to get any real airtime on western mainstream news.
I think it's fair to say that Ukraine is seen as a special case because of the implications of a Putin victory, and how the autocrat club react to this. That and it's a war in Europe.
That said, any adult seeing children and women being murdered and brutalised, should be outraged - be that in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine or anywhere. It's a disgrace.
