Their dream scenario is what happened to that when they tried to actually launch a flight. Barrages of human rights lawyers getting the deportees removed from the flights and getting the whole scheme caught up in a legal morass. Then they can happily not bother having to actually do it or deal with the realities, and just blame the Leftist Activists for it failing heading towards a hypothetical 2028 election.

Didn't work for the Tories, but might for them as so many Americans are demonstrably ignorant to a breathtaking degree.

I think it is more a case of people in general having valid concerns about him, as opposed to some angry left cohort. The proof will be in the pudding, maybe he will surprise everyone and do good things, or maybe he will be deceptive and do whatever cements his control and inflates his bank balance. Time will tell but I think it is reasonable for people to have concerns given the evidence so far.
