Just to give people an idea of whats going on around here.
I live in a sanctuary city. (smaller city neigboring boston)
In my area of the city the population is majority Latino.
My kid goes to a spanish speaking public school.
The idea is to get kids bilingual in both Spanish and English.
16 of the 23 kids in his class speak spanish as a first language.
41 million Americans speak Spanish as a first language.
Today the Whitehouse took down the Spanish version of their site.
They removed the constitution from the site alltogether.
They are trying to push through legislation to end birthright citizenship.
This means kids with US passports who were born here but whos parents arent citizens can be deported.
For months our school has been holding info sessions to inform people of their rights
It may not matter if rights dont count anymore.
Living in a community on edge now.

So, if I have what my wife just told me correct. If the birthright citizenship removal goes through my brother-in-law could become stateless. Apparently, according to what they are trying to push through, you are only a citizen if your mother was born in the US. My mother-in-law is German born and my father-in-law is US born.

My wife is a dual citizen but he got rid of his German citizenship a long time ago and may find it difficult to get it back.

Let us hope that these lawsuits against this win out, on this one. I feel that this is not the only battle the citizens of the US are going to have over the next 4 years.

Same here. Our schools in our small town has one of the most diverse language communities outside of Manhattan, in which 55 some different languages are spoken in households of the students. My 7yr old is in the duo-language program and a huge number of Mexicans/El Salvadorians live in our community. Everyone is on edge because some fat white fascist billionaires want to scapegoat brown people in order to distract their electorate from issues that actually affect their lives.

If someone is already a citizen, does the proposal include that than take away citizenship retrospectively?

Yikes. Surely they can't leave him stateless? Can they?
