I would have given the job to Unsworth after the Derby at Anfield last season until the end of the season

Now though, I'm inclined to stick with Koeman. Unsworth is doing well with the U23's

We don't need Unsworth as first team manager. What we need is for Unsworth and Koeman to work together in bringing the talented kids we have into the first team set up. We have senior pros at the minute who aren't cutting it. IMO, Koeman should be turning to Unsworth now and seeing what we have in the youth ranks to replace these faltering veteran players until we (hopefully) make some new signings in January

Unsworth and Koeman as a team, working together, is what we need. We don't need to kick Koeman and replace him with Unsworth, that's throwing out the baby with the bath water if you ask me

They've barely been working together for long, let's give them a little more time. Unsworth's job is to not only develop the younger players but also to encourage Koeman to work them in to the set up whilst also perhaps giving Koeman a crash course in the values and culture of the club and how bringing players up from the youth ranks is something a lot of our support value and appreciate

Still convinced we would have a shiny trophy in the cabinet if they'd had the balls to do this.

I just wonder how much Koeman is listening/ embracing what unsworth is telling him. would love to see them team up but not sure the current manager deems it necessary(our loss)

Stubbs is better qualified than Unsworth. At least he's had the guts to step out of the Everton comfort zone and put his neck on the line.
Stubbs is immensely popular in Edinburgh, having won the Hibees the cup after years of hurt. But he didn't get them promoted and his Rotherham sojourn suggests he would be out of his depth for a big club.

No chance! The players are losers who bottle every big game. We would no doubt have got an unlucky 2-1 defeat or something.

I know, I know. But our name was on the cup that year. The stars were aligned.

The easiest of Cup runs. Chelsea surrendering. Crystal bloody Palace waiting for us in the final. Even gifted a controversial penalty, and a soft own goal at Wembley.

But no. Besic right back. Gibson, Cleverley AND McCarthy. Martinez really had to work hard to mess with fate there.

We did have a mad injury crisis too. Not that it would have made any difference. Mori being an idiot in the derby didnt help.

I still think Unsworth would have put a half way cohesive team out and got us through that game. But we'll never know. Just another chapter in our 20 years of missed opportunities.
