The Takeover Rumour Thread.

July 2011 - Season ticket sales at a low, no new signings on the horizon, mumblings that fans are becoming very unhappy
August 2011 - No new signings as the season starts, crowd getting restless and protest organised for a home game
October 2011 - James McFadden re-signs, crowds are falling and another protest as been organised for an upcoming home match

All of the above are followed by either a press release or a rumour that the club is to be sold to be keep the fans at bay. I personally don't believe this takeover will happen; Everton, and Ian Ross, are so predictable with these press releases its unreal.

I think there is a lot more to the Everton Board than we think, and in particular a Shadow Director (i.e. Philip Green) is running the club with BK being the face. I find it difficult that nobody wants to invest in the club with the potential, fanbase etc.

I'm just not sure where the potential to make money is for a potential investor. The amount they'd have to spend to guarantee champions league football for a period long enough to turn it into an overall profit is massive. The real money for an investor is in getting your championship teams into the premiership and reaping the rewards financially..

Can't believe some Evertonians are getting their hopes up over this!
Surely one thing you should come to know as an Everton fan is never hope for anything!

Would be nice if it was true and happened in time for January!

Won't believe it till we do a 'blackburn' type ad for new houses or whatever these peeps are into!

Can't help it mate. These rumours represent some slim hope for the club. Without them we're on a downward spiral into the chamionship.

Its out there now so something will happen if there's any decent reporters out there,if it falls through the papers should be like a dosser on a scone and hounding the Everton board to find out why?
But lets just see what happens, there's f-all we can do at the moment, fingers crossed we will have plenty to spend come january. Just dont get your hopes up if it happens it happens!

That sheedy poster on kipper who's been leaking info now and again posts this in relation to the Echo story about nothing being imminent:

"I don't think anyone who has or claimed to have any insider knowledge of this has been suggesting a take over is imminent , this smacks of the Echo trying to use their lack of info or failure to print what they do know into some kind of knowledge. I wouldn't be suprised if nothing came of this deal but I also hear that this company are looking towards starting due dilligence etc but at the same time others are sniffing around the club. In my opinion and from what I hear the clubs attitude has changed over the last 8 months because they weren't as open to finance then as they are today so maybe the influence of the Blue Union has had an effect or maybe the Chairman has realised things need to be changed."

No idea if he's credible or not, but there we go.

My head is telling me that the doubters on here are probably right. However it does seem that there is a bit more substance to this than there has been to previous rumours.

If it was a case of the board trying to keep the fans at bay, surely even they would realise that once people realised that the take over wasn't happening, it would just make things even worse for them.

Is the correct answer.

There's something in play, but it'll end in tears if Kenwright isn't marginalised. That'd be my guess based on all the evidence produced so far. Still, the feller cant keep denying the tide's coming in forever. It's gonna go pop before long because the only thing that can stop that is success on the pitch...and that is out of the question.

"US-Based Planet Hollywood magnate Earl is a rare presence at games due to work commitments across the Atlantic, but is believed to try and make the journey for home fixtures against United and Liverpool, along with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane."

He's believed to try and make the journey is he, that makes sense. Good writing as per from Greg.

The BU is has always been an irrelevance. This is about big finance. The echo article has done a really bad job of damping down expectations because whatever the outcome, all i've got out of this is that this rumour has some legs. Unfortunately, if due diligence is involved we have a long way to go. And hopefully, Everton can keep it a little bit quiet until the outcome - good or bad.

Actually, he's only coming over to watch spuds, so don't worry. The home games are just a cover

Oh Lord, I'm turning into Davek!!!!

For a quick investment, yes. Bringing a team from the Championship to the PL will give an instant cash reward with a minimal outlay (compared to getting in the CL and challenging for the League). Its the commercial side of things which can be exploited more at Everton for any potential investor. For years our board have never had the business accumen to grow Everton on global market, and there are markets there to exploit; thats why I find it difficult to accept we have not been taken over.
