There seem to be a good few sources linking us to this Ligue 1 defender, Manga. I reckon it could happen. Other than that nothing really.

I'm certainly not arguing that Fellaini is irreplaceable, nor do I deny that bargains can be had, although they are harder to identify which is why better players typically come at a premium.

But there's no way that I'm going to agree that selling your best player and replacing him with someone costing half as much in any way constitutes 'pushing the boat out'. Its the absolute minimum anyone should be expecting, the absolute minimum.

Not when your Everton FC its not!. Most of us know are financial limitations and know we havent got a lot of money, if anything!. Only until this summer have we had a bit of money to spend due to the new TV deal, and it is only a bit!.

You can make the point of us getting an extra £20-30m a season on top of what we originally got but no way is all that going towards the kitty when we make loses every year and are in debt to the tune of 40, 50 million or more!.

Most of the new money coming in will go to covering loses and servicing debts, hence why Martinez will only see a bit of that new money coming in!. I think he'll be lucky to get £10m of it!.

So a club like us does have to sell to buy. We have done for years now!. And btw, i disagree with you on Felli being are best player, Bainesy is by a mile, i'd be more worried and pissed off if he went cos you cant replace him, he's that good!.

And when you get a fee of say, £24m for Felli and after everything is payed out, Standard are sorted out, we'll get about 20 mill or so, then he does have to spend it wisely and for me, signing a player for half or more of the 20 plus million we'd get from selling Felli is pushing the boat out for us IMO!.

Tbh, i dont think we can afford to splash out more than have of the Felli fee on one player as we need a few players for the team!. We need to replace Felli for a start and then add another 2 or 3 for the team and if possibly, a squad player or 2, so we have to use the Felli fee, and whatever Martinez gets before sales, wisely!.

And i never said we'd go spending 10, 11 or 12 million on a striker like Bony to replace Felli, cos that isnt replacing him is it!.
