Yes, would be an eventual replacement for Distin. Not right away though.. after the season Distin just had, I can see him playing at a high level for another year.

In the mean time, he would offer us depth and competition for places in the first team squad. These are too often foreign concepts to our club, I know.

Initially probably Heitinga. But you're right, Distin won't last forever. I'd like to see Duffy given a crack as the 3rd centre half.

Ireland would be cheap, 1 year left on his contract, Villa want rid. What's not to want about this transfer, we could be potentially getting a very good footballer for around 2-3 mil. If it doesn't work out we can sell him to someone else.

I doubt it, home grown players are sold at a premium price.

There is a reason why Bannan and Ireland didnt play for a nearly relegated team much last season and that reason is that they are shoite.
