The start to the season

What a difference a week makes. With the results today we sit.

1 point behind Liverpool and Arsenal
2 points behind Spurs and City
Ahead of Utd no matter the result tomorrow.

Hardly a disaster given we have had to play Chelsea who look like they'll walk the league and Arsenal.

Plus I think we're over our dodgy preseason and we have Europe to look forward too.

Life is good.

Happy to be 1 point behind?? Me, I think we should be a couple of points ahead...get it sorted sharpish EFC.

They weren't good today. Di Maria was the only one who did anything special. QPR were dreadful. But it wouldn't have been 4-0 without Di Maria. They'll struggle against any of the top half because there defence is so bad.
I thought Blind looked really good as did Herrara.

Against the top teams they will struggle to keep teams out but they'll score a lot of goals. This season's Liverpool maybe.

They'll definitely be a threat for top 4.

We can't afford to drop points when we shouldn't. 2 points at LC, 2 points vs. Arsenal. Means we need to beat teams like CP, Burnley, and yes, even second place Aston Villa.

we haven't played that badly at all this season, we've just defended terribly. teams haven't really caused us a mountain of problems, we've just conceded virtually every chance they've had.

we've looked like we can score many goals this season though, all coming from a range of players.

This. It has amazed me how any deflection, slight mistake etc has ended with the ball being in the back of our net. Very Everton but very annoying!

We certainly held our own against arsenal and Chelsea who will be too strong for many teams this year.

I'm optimistic about the season. Top 4 will still (as always) be a big big ask.

All teams do mate, even the eventual champions. It's doing it as least as possible.

Drawing at home with arsenal is certainly not 2 pts lost. (Obviously the way it happened a couple of weeks ago makes it seem so)

We've taken more points off WBA this season than after both games against them last season. Our first 3 games were frustrating to say the least, but picking up maximum points against lower league opposition is something to improve on from last season. Crystal palace was another team we struggled against last season.

I think we'll be doing fine if we beat Crystal Palace. The only points I consider to have been thrown away were against Arsenal which, in the larger scheme of things, is pretty good considering the squad they have. We controlled a game for 75 minutes and gave them two incredibly soft goals. Chelsea were good for their win and Leicester earned their draw which I can accept in the pleasant docility of hindsight. Beat Palace, beat Liverpool, save the world.

Well that is the problem, we can't give away soft goals if we have a chance to beat the top teams. got to put them away.

Yeh they will be up there, but still, nothing that I was scared of yesterday - Di Maria apart. Blind and Herrera are very good players, but aren't gonna give the top teams bags of issues. Mata and Di Maria working together is key for them. But if they push Mata out to accommodate Rooney...

Aye, but I suspect it's not going to be a permanent affliction this season. I do hope Martinez persists with Stones, he adds so much energy to what was a lethargic centre half partnership prior to the West Brom game.

Let's just not try to draw conclusions about how are season is going when we're only 4 games in. We're not doing well or poorly, we're just picking up games and it doesn't make sense to assess our situation until at least ~10 games in.
