I don’t think it’s “massive” at all. The Europa League/UEFA Cup was always seen as second rate and mocked by fans of clubs like United and Chelsea until they were suddenly in it. The difference is the same as the difference between the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.

These are the teams left in the Europa League. There are no top teams in there, Villa are closest and they’re going to finish 6th in the league. Everyone else is second rate, Brentford or us are going to qualify for it and will be among the favourites next season for crying out loud. No idea where this romanticism of the Europa League has come from, Liverpool fans used to mock us singing about Thursday nights on channel 5 when we were in it.

I think they've also changed it so teams dont drop into it from champions league/europa league as they once did.

I expect him to say that. He better not look happy or smile, or bother going up to lift it, I will say that much. If he has anything about him he’ll tell his team to quietly collect their medals and slope off the pitch in shame and embarrassment at winning such a tinpot trophy. He’s a true winner with higher standards so I’m sure he’ll do that.
