The Ross Barkley on the Bench FUME THREAD

Does Ross being on the bench mean anything?

Barkley doesnt cut the mustard. 3 good games per season isnt enough isnt it. He s the second coming of Rodwell. If he leaves he will play for Brighton or Sunderland in 3 years time.
Prickly opinion that, and divides people but I've held this view for a while now.
He has loads of technical ability and is a real athletic specimen, however his brain is about 5 yards slower than the play, always will be. He's a paradox, shame for Evertonians but this coversation of whether he is good enough will last for as long as he's here as his preformances will always be thus. Some good some bad.

Ross and Rom both going odds on for me. Get the reported money for them plus clev / Gerry and Niasse money buy well and move on with Koemans team . Looking forward to next season already !

Koeman isn't a 'Dutch Moyes' because he's actually won things, trophies in other countries.

As for Barkley, he's been rubbish for most of the season. His upturn in form coincided with Schneiderlin signing and Barkley playing in front of him. When Schneiderlin doesn't play, Barkley reverts back to being ineffective.

Barkley has 14 days left to sign a new contract before he gets sold. He's clearly calling Everton's bluff and wants to see what options are open to him this summer.

Personally I think we should call *his* bluff and just sell him. We can sign someone better than him, and for a so-called Blue he doesn't exactly appear desperate to stay, otherwise he'd have signed that new contract straight away. Others don't have any dramas doing so, such as Coleman and Baines.
He's a midfielder that's scored twice in the opening 4 games, including a free kick against Spurs.

If he played for Arsenal or Liverpool, they'd be making him captain for that alone.

Bias purely because he plays for Everton and is happy at Everton, and doesn't want to move to one of their 'favourites'.

We're talking about him being included in a 23 man England Squad, not winning the Ballon D'Or.

Any other player who'd started the season as he had done would be in the squad.

The utter BS about him being uncoachable is a ridiculous slur. He's a very talented professional footballer who has had the misfortune of being managed by 2 footballing dinosaurs in Hodgson and Allardyce.

i'm now at the stage where i'm just not bothered whether he stays or goes.

Does he do enough to warrant a new 100,000 pound plus contract, personally not for me. Is he a player at this moment in time that we could build a side around which would get us into Champions league? Again not for me. Would he improve any of the teams we are trying to get to if he went into their starting 11's? Again it's a no. Taking my blue tinted glasses off and asking the pertinent questions, then i am afraid Ross should be sold this summer and allow us to find a player who can fit into Koemans system.

A 100K salary doesn't bother me, its just he'll get offered a lot more than that along with a transfer fee (100k/week might not even get you say Walcott these days). I can't see him sticking around if Siggy comes here anyway. Yes he could start on Man Utd but if City or Chelsea wants him, he's a bench player and we should bank about 1/2 transfer fee and use it to buy him back in a couple years.
