The Ronaldo case

Criminal courts require proof beyond reasonable doubt, so I can only assume these cases are brought to destroy a person's career, as it is almost impossible to provide meaningful evidence. Whether this is "justice" for a genuine victim, I don't know. I would question the judgement of the legal representation who choose to bring the case, though. Would they accept any other case with no tangible evidence?
Is the questionnaire he reportedly filled out that has details that match what she said not useful evidence? She also had a tape kit done which is apparently missing of course but regardless is that not also evidence? There is more here than you're portraying

It will depend. The questionnaire is supposedly a leaked document. It isn't clear whether it is real and is supposedly between him and his lawyer. Unless signed or traced to him directly, it will be difficult to prove anything. Regarding missing evidence, if it is missing then there is no evidence.

I am not trying to portray anything.

I know, only Ronaldo and her know what really happened, there's a massive variance from a scumbag sexually assaulting a lady on her own in the park to not saying yes in a guys bed.

How can they prove he raped her? If she went the doctors and they said yes, you've had anal then any girl we sleep with could do it to us.

Young celebrities are at high risk of this and he should have known better.

Wow rape is rape no matter where it is. A women can change her mind as he about to put his penis in.

I agree, rape is rape. No means No. But.

It is a real tricky subject, and no mistake. Like, technically, it is almost impossible for 2 people who are drunk/stoned to legally have sex, cos there is no way the girl could consent to it, cos she was pissed as well. Which obviously happens millions of times every day. So if for whatever reason, she alleged rape the next day, the legal system sort of creaks.

But a random attack by a stranger, with a DNA based conviction, is a pretty much open and shut case.

That's the point I was trying to put across, thanks Roydo.

But that's totally different to what you were saying.

Saying it's difficult for us - just reading the papers/hearing court statements - to know whether somebody was raped if they voluntarily went up to somebody's hotel room and had a bit of a kiss and a cuddle is of course true. Saying that the act of rape itself is in anyway different is absolutely not true. At all. People really need to get their heads round this.

Mate, I was trying to say there's a clear difference in the two cases I mentioned - yes they're both rape but one would be much more difficult to prove and much more traumatic to the victim.

Get your mob mentality out of here.

Woah there sunshine, don't try and turn it round on me. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt til then but you're not twisting it that way, i'm just using your own words here, nothing to do with a mob mentality.

You said being raped in a hotel bed would be 'less traumatic' than being raped in a car park, it had absolutely nothing to do with how difficult it was to prove. It's written there for everyone to see so pipe down.

What are you trying to accuse me of here? One is definitely more traumatic to the victim and one is certainly harder to prove.

So you don't think this was more traumatic than the Ronaldo case?

Are you enjoying trying to make out like I'm advocating rape or something? bet you're a right grass,

I'm not accusing you of anything, although you seem a bit twitchy about it which kind of makes me wonder whether I should be in all honesty. Also if I knew you'd raped someone I would absolutely grass you up, so if that was supposed to be an insult you've misjudged the situation quite badly.

I think if a person is raped it's likely to be traumatic. It's quite possible that being raped by somebody you know and trust is even more traumatic, as it may make you unable to trust or be intimate ever again, but personally i'd rather not grade exactly how traumatised it's acceptable for somebody to be when the victim of a terrible crime, and just accept that it should never have happened to them in the first place.

Let's just agree rape is awful and if guilty the accused should receive a strong punishment.
