The relegation thread

Hull and Swansea are for me the nigh on certainties for relegation and then unfortunately I think it'll be Boro who'll very late on take the last spot.

Moyes and Fat Sam with their experience and willingness to play dire football to get results will eventually grind out survival.

"Survival specialists" as they're known. They've been there before so fully expect them to just get out of it. Will be interesting to see how Leicester get on when the Champions League starts again. I wonder where they'll put all their eggs

This was being discussed on Radio 5 Live just after our win on Boxing Day as up to now the CL has take precedent with regards to squad selection.

I understand that the further they go in the Champions League it will support their image, but it's certainly sacrificing their current league form.

Six points over the relegation zone isn't the most comfortable margin - one or two results going against them and they're back into the mixer.

It's a balancing act. One one hand if they make it to the 1/4 or even semis of the CL then they become a wealthy and attractive proposition for the same level of player we're looking at (ie talented but not yet high profile enough to demand CL football) regardless of league position. However if they get knocked out next round and then have a relegation scrap on their hands then they might really scupper themselves and their future.

Can't see past the bottom three but I have a funny feeling Moyes will keep Sunderland up at the expense of Boro or Watford.

Aye, I reckon Moyesy will do it. He'll be fielding a squad with 2 scarecrows, a mannequin and 3 boxes stacked up on top of each other by the end of the season, but he'll still pull it off
