Wolves seem the most likely club to stay up Year 1 in quite awhile. They may do a Stoke or Leicester and stick around for many years.

Sorry to see Bristol fading. Not out of it though.

Wolves have some very, very good players.

They’ve got players who have been playing for Monaco, Valencia and Porto first teams in the last couple of seasons, like that Jota, who has been hugely impressive.

I know it’s a big step up the championship to the Premier League, but they’re definitely stronger than a lot of other teams in this league, and it’s clear to see with the distance they have in the championship, that they’re coming up. But where there be optimism, there should come caution. Newcastle have been relegated and struggled immensely on both occasions after being promoted and the first time, they won at a canter. Had it not been for Brighton last year, they would have done so then too.

But as we know, it’s not always that simple!

I think that's the key thing. I haven't watched them play to be honest but there are a couple of factors to consider when thinking about how they will cope.

First of all, although they have a lot of money, that doesn't always equate to success and spending it wisely. The notable case this season is obviously ourselves, but there have been loads of clubs who have spent big and not delivered. I hear this Neves and a few others are very good, but they're unproven in the top flight in England, and if they are as good as expected they won't be at Wolves long. I imagine Wolves were the top destination in the Championship due to their finances and links with this Jorge Mendes. That will become a far different scenario when they're in the league with not only the top 6 but clubs like Everton, Leicester (recent Champions) and West Ham (London thing) to name just a few.

The sides in the Championship are also nowhere near the level of the Premier League on the whole. It may look like the league is poor this year, and it generally is for the PL, but look how Newcastle are doing who comfortably got promoted last season. I think Wolves fans would do well to come up with optimism, but some caution like you said. The top flight is a different proposition to the Championship.

I'd like to see Birmingham City come up
But I dislike steve Cotterell
Most of there fans seem sound enough
But it looks like
Wolves
Villa
And
Our six fingered friends from Bristol

I think that's it though.

Everyone wins, and Wolves know it, certainly Mendes does too.

Wolves = Win, because, with the key players thanks to Mendes, they could not only go up, but build a foundation to STAY up.
Players = Win. Says it all when wolves are plucking out players with Champions League experience, and paying them more than a European Giant. So the players win too, as they're lining their pockets and getting a crack at the premier league.
Mendes = Guaranteed win. He makes tonnes of agent fees, extra fees if they get promoted and drums up huge business which has made teams pay attention. He makes customers satisfied and he lines his pockets for years to come.

A Swansea fan has asked on their forum what their expectations are in the PL. Quite a few are grounded, but there are some ridiculous levels of delusion on show from some of them. I can partly understand why, as fans can often get carried away when they're watching good football (I wouldn't have predicted our decline after playing Arsenal off the park beating them 3-0 in 2013-14 for example).

But until we've seen their players in the top flight I think their fans and even some neutral fans would be better of waiting to see how they cope in with the better teams in England before making any bold predictions. Just from looking at their squad, they seem to have a lot of European players who are either young, or are unproven at the top level. Those kind of players may be excelling in the Championship but it's completely different in the PL. Look at our good young players who were part of the U20's World Cup Win. Davies has struggled in his 2nd season, Lookman has been sent out on loan (a decision I disagree with, but all 3 managers have treated him similarly), Holgate and Calvert Lewin are now struggling to get a starting place. And they have proven experience in the English top flight.

I think there is a tendency from some English football fans to hear foreign team names like Porto and Monaco and assume that means a player from there is a level above. Porto's embarrassing defeat at home to the RS the other night highlights the gulf in quality between the PL and lesser European Leagues. Neves is meant to be the standout player but is only 20, Vinagre on loan from Monaco is 18. Costa and Cavaliero are both 24 and if they were that good, they wouldn't be moving from Benfica/Monaco to Wolves. N'Diaye didn't even make it at Sunderland, and Bonatini has played for Estoril and some Saudi team called Al-Hilal.

Will be good to see how this Neves and Jota do if they stay with Wolves next season though as I have heard good things about both.

Wolves won at Cardiff last night to pretty much seal the title. Three horse race for automatic promotion with Fulham coming up fast.

Big win for Millwall today over Bristol in the playoff race. Horrible loss for the Blades at Barnsley.

Everyone has 5 games left except Cardiff and Derby, who each have 6 (their makeup game is against each other).

Wolves 89
Cardiff 80
Fulham 78
Aston Villa 73
Derby 68
Middlesbrough 66
Millwall 65
Bristol 62
Sheffield United 62
