Old Skool Evertonions make me despair. They know their 'istory and nothing is as good or as sacred as it was back then. Too many sacred cows who get defended no matter just how much they bark utter diarrhea out of their backside in the name of opinion*

*Now, if you take that statement as seriously as you took my earlier comment, then you all need shooting.

No one in their right mind actually believes that Duncan Ferguson is ready to manage Everton Football Club

I am not sure how to look at this, We are in uncharted territory really. Not since Kendall in 87 have we lost a manager that we didn't want to see go, that hurt far more than Moyes leaving BTW, but it will be difficult to find somone who can achieve what Moyes did AND instill the belief that we can win Away at certain grounds and collect the silverware we all crave.

Our fears over Martinez are similar to Man U's fears over Moyes in the big picture of sustained position.

There is no real stand out candidate though and so i can understand Kendall suggesting the bold gamble with Ferguson.

People in the game have spoke highly of his coaching skills and he is certainly someone who commands respect at Everton. The idiots who refer to him as drunken etc are those that are still scared of what he was capable of when on top form from rival clubs.

I believe it is possibly too soon for him, but what if. What if he took to it like a duck to water. The man is 100% Everton through and through. I have become tired of being United's lapdog over the last few years and it would be great to have a leader who viewed Everton as the ultimate place to be.

I, and many others, were ready for Moyes to leave.

Our fears over Martinez is that he'll get us into relegation battles.

Of course there are. Haven't you seen the hugely-active Moyes-Replacement thread? The two leaders in the polls are our standout candidates.

I'd certainly like to see Big Dunc as our manager one day. But quite simply he needs some managerial experience before he can even dream of having a job of the caliber of Everton manager. I know it's important to give young managers a chance but this fella hasn't managed anyone yet. So let's be logical rather than sentimental and accept Big Dunc isn't ready to be Everton Manager. Assistant perhaps?

Which is why I stated 'big picture of sustained position'! United fans are worried they might slip to 3rd/4th place which for them is as unacceptable as us returning to Mid table/relegation battlers.

I have.
Laudrup has a 10m release clause and his team have dropped off alarmingly since winning the COC. Vitor Pereira isn't that highly thought of by Porto fans in general. I don't see them as standout candidates myself.

I supported Everton in the 70s ,80s and thereafter.I learned a long time ago that when Howard Kendall speaks you shut up and listen.I wish others would do the same.

Whilst I idolise Kendall from the 80s the man today is a million miles away from the one that led our great teams to cups and titles. Much like Southall he's on hard times now and sometimes the less said the better. He needs help not dirty cheques from journos.
