Me physically being there supporting the team is different to me sitting in front of my TV thinking oh it would be nice to see them win

Ok, but what of the 80.000 in the stadium last night ?

Should they not take any joy from what they witnessed, and supported last night ?? even though by your thinking they had nothing to do with the success and only have a connection to it as (most ) of them there were born in the same country ?

Because I choose to be an Evertonian and not British. If Everton win something I will be proud to support the, as well as be happy for them, if Britain win something I will be happy but not proud. If I'm at a game then I will be supporting them and support obviously impacts the players.

The sporting structure of a nation tends to dictate how well you do in an Olympics. You, as a sports fan, (I believe) dictates and is part of a sporting tradition that is partially represented at the Olympics.

That's different, they were there and they can feel proud if they want to. I'm not saying they shouldn't I'm saying that I don't understand it and don't feel it.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend...

So because I don't go to see Everton I shouldn't be pleased when they win?

Of course you should. My point was just my own opinion on the whole thing.

Fair enough mate.

Each to their own and all that. Don't wanna take this thread down a bad road as some tit already tried that last night, let's just keep it to discussing the world's best athletes, regardless of who we want to win.

Aye lad. Apologies, back to the sport...

err, basically the ones we wanted to win did, and it made us feel good. We will no doubt want Usain to win in 8 seconds tonight, and if he does it will make us feel good, but not good like yesterday did.

If you've bought a Lottery Ticket in the last 7 years then you have contributed something to Team GB, as well as in the form of Taxes etc, it's not the subs from Athletics Club members that support the Olympians and if it lifts a Nation like it has then it's worth it.

No need to apologise mate, that's what the forum is for. If we all agreed it'd be boring as [Poor language removed].

How do these marathon runners maintain this pace? Unreal.

No idea. I'd probably drop after the first five miles.
