The policy Labour brought in was for u16's I think, got reversed straight away by them right wing blerts, the problem now is will the sport be cut even further funding wise by a poor performance.

All the funding will get cut one the flame is out, half the athletes got it cut once they had got the dream firmly set in their minds, the handball girls were living/studying/playing in Norway when it was cut.

I'm sure it was free swimming for all wasn't it? Either way, is terrible it got cut. I used to swim a bit when I was younger, and I remember it costing 50p to swim for however long you wanted.

I went swimming again a year or 2 ago and it was £6 odd for a swim for 2 hours, absolute joke

Up to the local authorities now if they want to provide/fund free swimming, it did used to be free for all but only at certain times/ sessions.
It is free where I am for kids still (certain times) as our MP is the one that instigated it in the 1st place, my daughter and her mates must've been about 5 or 6 times already this hols when the weather is bad, I'd rather she be doing that than hanging about, the Mrs went 1 day and it was about £3.50. We used to go on a sunday morning in Warrington and it used to cost us £10.

That French swimmer came from nowhere to win that. Great scenes as his sister (a gold medallist swimmer herself in the past) hurdles over to hug him.

Commentators still stunned.

I think that puts the Frenchies back above us. That's their fourth swimming gold... we need to get in on the aquatic action.

I remember watching a programme about our 110 meter hurdler Andy Turner , he was saying how he nearly quit the sport after his funding was cut... he was lucky to get some lottery funding and now bith he and British athletics are reaping the rewards. You need to put in what you want out... and that includes large funding for eventual Olympic champions.
