...the NHS sent me a kit so they can test for bowel cancer. Brilliant that they are pro-active in doing this for over-60s and I encourage all oldies to take part. Mrs Eggs wasn’t enthusiastic when I asked if she’d like to help me with the poo sticks!!
That's actually not soon enough.
I assume you're talking about the IFOB test. European guidelines recommend you get them, starting from age 50, or sooner if there is a hereditary issue with this kind of cancer in your family (well then you also have to have a colonoscopy every 5 years). So if you're fifty, or older, get one yourself (it really makes a big difference in you living or dying, for that particular cancer).
I know this because my father got one sent by mail a few years back (for his 53th birthday if I remember correctly- I do think it's unfortunate timing to send something like that on your birthday).
