Worth a air sum now at an antiques fair .....1971 we got a lime Green Trim-Phone.
Remember the Party Line? We shared ours with a woman round the corner, it was well known she was having "a bit on the side" with a local builder, whispering sweet nothings on the phone at various times of the day, my brother used to do kissing noises down the phone when ever he wanted to get her off the phone to phone his mates.ā¦.still remember getting our first telephone in 1970s, lots of folk donāt even have landlines anymore. Same - ours went from ARR 8104 to 677-8104. Clearly the new numbered exchanges didn't match the dial letters (277). I worked in Telecom for 40 years and its been incredible to see the changes in phones and computing.I remember when our exchange number changed from "GRE" to "924" - Crosby for those not from the area. Also, our number was only one digit away from the local swimming baths, used to get a lot of wrong numbers requesting info on opening times. And the phone had it's own table by the front door.
