The Oldies Thread

I hated those rubbery sweets, eg, pink shrimps, fried eggs, sweet bananas. Love Hearts and Fruit Salads though ❤️ 💙
The Bananas were my favourite - when i run the Cub Scouts many moons ago on perk was to get a wholesale card for a large warehouse - to purchase the sweets for the cubs tuck shop - only perk in that unpaid job - caught one lad in he cubs storage shed stealing the sweets = it was a policeman's son .. :D -

Then came Bob a Job week - two of them frauded the money as they claimed money off a CID officer - who was suppicious of their antics no identity card i issued etc - I expelled both of them -

The parents were at my front door - please don't expel them - I told them they knew the rules etc - The District leader asked how much did they fiddle etc - I told her it was my cub pack my rules - they were banned for life - one is a manager of Aldi now ...:D

So they did'nt even end up getting their fraud badge.

No, but life as a leader of that Cub pack became easier - two of the mostly bad behaviour lads booted out - the others knew the rules I set meant something ......

To me & my co partner - it seemed like a two hour baby sitting service unpaid plus we both had to train up etc etc enjoyable in parts but a PIA in other parts - we took them to one camp & a Cub jamboree - a lot of responsibility for unpaid work - we both set a criteria if one of us packed in we would both go at the same time -
My co cub master got crapped on in his training - & that was it we both left emptying the kitty of what all the parents had paid into in subscriptions on the lads ten pin bowling , etc etc & left the kitty with £50 in it - The area District commissioner was raging mad we had spent the funds on our lads - over that point we stood firm & told her we would sue her for libel - I pointed out we started with Zilch so the newcomers would have to start with Zilch ....

In two days we were offered two other Cub packs to run in a different area = we said thanks , but no thanks .... a thankless job IMO....
