I knew a welsh girl who used to call them 'Daps'
Apparantly the initials of the rubber factory in Bristol where the soles were made as Dunlop Athletic Plimsolls.

Also was calling them plimsolls in any way related to the plimsoll line on ships?

…..Plimsoll Line on ships apparently named after MP Samuel Plimsoll who campaigned for load lines on vessels

Oh loved the Pearl and Dean adverts, they used to use London accents to advertise the local businesses and they used to pronounce the Town names wrong

Same, the girl I knew was from Llanelli but she didn't know why they were called daps, or why I called them pumps.

Thankfully a different girl - mine was from Swansea

One of my neighbours has gone to live in a Care home and she instructed her niece to give me some of the tinned food in cupboard to use. 24 cans consisting of
10 mixed fruit
5 pineapple chunks
3 peaches
2 pears
2 beans
1 ravioli
1 red salmon
All out of date except the salmon
