When I was no more than 10 we had a teacher whose choice of punishment was a wooden rule which he whacked onto your knuckles using the edge as the point of contact. Mr Adams...We were 10...top bloke eh?Pretty sure that 'normal' isn't the correct word, but yes that is how it was.
For the second half of the fourth year our maths teacher used to call me and two other lads to the front of the class to be caned at the start of each maths lesson.
"That's BEFORE you do anything. Now sit down."
They were good for recording family stuff for posterity. Lot of "absent friends" on there.Still got a stack and a proper walkman all stashed away, for god knows what reason...

Saw Midge about 5 months ago. He still does a great show.I have tickets for OMD's 40th anniversary tour. 40 years!!! I think I was there almost at the beginning- saw them for the first time at Liverpool university Fresher's Ball, possibly 1979 or 1980. Decided to watch them on their ( and mine) home turf rather than up here. So I'll be at The Empire on Nov 4th.
Similarly my daughter ( aged 21) came home from work and said "Hey Mum, the Aaah Vienna people are touring. My boss is going" Tickets now purchased for Midge Ure!

It was the drugs bro.Do any of ye remember buying distilled water from the chemist? To put in a car battery. The bottle had a very weird shaped rubber nipple which helped with pouring the correct dose into the battery. Or was that a dream??
You're as old as you feel, which for me, is all of the time. How old do you have to be to post in this thread? Because I'm 35, but the fact my favourite 90s bands are doing reunion / 20th anniversary tours makes me feel old.
I think a rule of thumb is when you get those free 'gadget' magazines and adverts that if you see something you, even momentarily, think is practical, then that's it, you're at the top of the hill looking down a very steep slope. You're as old as you feel, which for me, is all of the time.
