Weren't the halfpenny pieces scrapped because it cost more than that to make them ?
Will £9.90 be the new £9.99 or will £10 be the new £9.99?1p, 2p and 5p, will soon go the same way......

Nothing costs £5.02 or £5.03 here.If what's happened here is any indication, it'll be the 10 quid. Canada dropped the penny, so to speak, when we stopped making them in 2013, though they still remain legal tender. However, prices here are rounded up or down to the nearer five cents if you're paying in cash. So something that costs $5.02 is only $5, while $5.03 is now $5.05.

A few pubs in and off Dale Street had lock ins ; happy times when I could drink a vat full.Anyone else recall the times that the alehouse would close between 3-00pm to 5-00pm?
Happy memories of the tax rebate money in the pocket, and those 'illegal' drinking clubs around Mathew Street.
Fantastic places, frequented by the criminal demi-monde, Communist dockers, and 'faded' theatrical ladies in purple hair, drinking gin, and exclaiming 'cheers me dears'.
Alway's seemed to get seated to a fantastic Toffee, and giving the Koppites loads.
A real frisson of danger and excitement, but the 'bezzies' would occasionally pop their heads in for a sneaky pint.
Halcyon days indeed.

Like a secret society.....some of the best noises ever heard was the closing of the curtains and the bolting of the locks on the door.
