Borderline 26 years old but I don't care ! Where else would we talk about such great music

Was that at the Stadium ? I saw them supporting Mott the Hoople in '74, the only tour they ever supported anyone.

Stadium was like another world to a Wool like myself mate. I think it was in St Georges Hall in Blackburn, but it might have been the Guild Hall in Preston, it's nigh on 40 years ago ffs. I do remember I should have been at a family wedding so had to lie big style to get out of it. Actually thinking about it, it was probably Blackburn because we had to hitch back.

Haha...no I didn't. If memory serves me, doesn't the protagonist accidentally do it? I can't remember now.

Different world back then, well the perception of the world was different, I'm not convinced it was much different really, and we probably did 3 or 4 daft things a year which, in retrospect, seem crazy, but in reality, were normal.

This is probably more for the "Oldies Thread" than here, but, as kids, our parents didn't know where we were every minute of the day, and there were just as many weirdos knocking about then as there are now, we just knew who they were and avoided 'em.

The main difference these days is one of perception of risks and the reporting in the news of the outcomes. Sad really. As teenagers we rarely paid a bus fare and used to hitch everywhere, having made an instant judgement on a driver if you wanted to stick your thumb out or not.

Slightly off topic, but I have tried to explain to my kids that in the summer holidays my parents went out to work leaving me and my brother free to roam the neighbourhood, the whole day - for me it was 6/7 weeks of non-stop cricket and football on Clubmoor Rec or Bankfield depending upon what was going on.

I guess I was destined to be an entrepreneur even then as if anyone needed a football, cricket (usually a tennis) ball or bat they used to come to me and I'd sell them one

Saw ( pre fame ) Deep Purple and Hot Chocolate on the same bill in Diamond Lil's in Blackpool whilst on a trip to see the lights, cost 5 shillings to get in so that dates it... and me.
Turned into a monster bar fight ala The Great Race.
Saw all the American acts at The Mardi
Went to a 3 day pop festival to see The Grateful Dead arrived on Fri Night, went on the lash, 'woke up' on Monday Afternoon
Saw the Floyd stink the place out at the Lpool Stadium, they lasted 2 and a half songs and stopped; said, 'this isn't working is it?' and walked off. They were, I think, trying out early post Barret stuff, but it was Friday night and we wanted to 'ROCK'.
