Player Valuation: £70m
  1. Arteta
Not due back for longer now, maybe we need a loan signing in the Jan window, or we can just face up to the fact that we got to a Cup final and into 5th place without him, so we can do it again.
  2. Pienaar
Should be back playing in December at the latest, not going to ANC, this is the guy who for me is more creative than anyone at the club, and is more effective than Arteta - why? because he can take players on, has a good corner on him, and has an immense engine and never stops running.
  3. Jagielka
Probably not going to play until the new year this one, but we do have cover in defence with Yobo and Distin, and I reckon that once we have players back in midfield like Pienaar and Neville, then Yobo is less likely to hoof the ball.
  4. Neville
2nd to Pienaar as the most important player at the club for me. The engine, the heart beat, the fight, the experience. etc.... Will be back soon and get things settled in midfield, plus he can fill in at the back when it's not going so well for peoples.
  5. Anichebe
Not arsed about this one, don't need him really. Agard coming through looks like being a similar kind of player, similar build but quicker if he shows what he showed to me during pre-season (no jokes please).
  6. Vaughan
Again, not that bothered here - ship has sailed. Even when he was fit Moyes wasn't playing him, so no great loss.
  7. Osman
A creative output and love him or hate him he can still provide a spark, and get a goal from midfield. Should be back soon, and would rather have him on the pitch rather than the treatment room.

So in essence it's not all doom and gloom. Ever negative has a positive, ying and yang and karma etc.

So let's not get carried away with the end of the world and look at things more objectively.

The house of cards came down fairly quickly, but it can be built just the same.

The official bright side underlines exactly why the official 'get it of your chest' thread is so much more popular.

True.

But we're still a while off from seing any of thos players.:(

Well we are looking to get Pienaar, Osman and Neville back for the United game.

I think we need to accept that 5th spot is going to be a very very tough ask, 6th maybe, 7th possibly.

But this may be the season where we take stock, and prepare for the next.

I have seen glimpses in Neill and Heitinga to give me that belief it's not all that bad, and then when Pienaar gets back it's going to be a different side out there.

I'm feeling lazy so I'll quote myself instead. :)

On a serious note, and I'm surprised noone has mentioned this, but the person we are missing most this season is Moyes.

Even when we had Neville, Pienaar, Saha, Vaughan, Osman, and even Lescott, we were still playing like a Division 1 team.

The players heads are up their ass at the moment, and yes, it would be nice to have all our star players back, but in the kitchen that is football, there is no point adding great ingredients into a bad soup, and our head chef needs to look at a different recipe, and start again.

Players coming back will do nothing to help our current situation.

I believe we can still get good performance with our current crop of players. We've prove it against Villa, not the best we've seen but it's something we can build upon.

Here's a plan...accept that we'll win hardly any points before the New Year and stick these kids like Aggard, Coleman, Wallace, Mustafi in there and see if we can unearth a diamond in the meantime.

No, will shatter their confidence, we will play like [Poor language removed], we will still lose, and we will make our "better" players unhappy.

Although, right now we could do with a wonderkid.

We were playing alright with Pienaar. As soon as he got injured, we became pap

We are better with Pienaar, but .........

We were destroyed by Arsenal. Absolutely destroyed, with our full squad at the time including Pienaar.

Then Burnley embarrassed us badly, with a team including Pienaar.

We scraped a draw against Sigma, and a lucky late pen against Wigan, both with Pienaar.

I could go on, especially our preseason form, but the point I'm trying to make here above all is that our team has a problem bigger than that of who is on the pitch, and players coming back in drips and drabs won't fix it.

Moyes needs to get into the heads of our team, and raise them, but someone needs to get into Moyes head first, and raise him.
