The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

Totally agree, even yesterday for me was just a really good game of football involving Everton. While my team didn't win ,I'm not stressed, disappointed, or even pee'd off. I've no need to go following other results from teams about us. It's been a while !.

I do wish a certain amount of my happiness wasn't based around 22 fellas effectively in pyjamas, on a pitch, trying to shepherd a ball into a outdoor cupboard.... but it is ha!

It's my missus who I feel sorry for because I've been insufferable most Saturdays for the past 4 years...she's artist/creative type so she's can't get her head around it all anyway.

I'm not worried about relegation, but I'm always worried about the club in some form, even though with the events of the last few years I think most of us had to pull back a little mentally and just hope for the best in the midst of constant struggle and bad news. I know I did anyway.

The whole "Everton, that" thing is quite ingrained in the fanbase. We have renewed hope now and TFG have to grasp that and really try to push us forward.

I take great pride that the club stayed together in the hardest of times and we are coming out the other side with the new stadium and renewed hope. I want us to be up there and part of the conversation though, to be relevant. There is still a story to be written, in how we overcame what we did for the purpose of winning things again. Let's hope we have the right people here to lead us to it.
Love that last paragraph mate.

Do Leicester have some type of Points deduction to start with if they do get relegated to the Championship. Sure they may do, but cant actually remember with all the messing about

They seem to have found a loophole where they can claim they weren’t part of either league at the time of the charges. You know, because these rules are so professionally well thought out by people who are not at all cowboys in any way.

The people who ran us at the time thanked these same people for being so kind as to only deduct us 6 points. Leicester’s lawyer went in there and took the piss out of them, just as City’s are currently doing.

Why are people fretting over getting 40 points  We are safe right now, it's over, even if we lost every game from now on, we'd still be safe. The bottom three are hopeless so just enjoy the final games of the season instead of worrying about Leicester or Ipswich turning into a team that isn't absolute crap.

Luton going for a double relegation, 2-0 down in the derby to Watford after half an hour.

Their demise this season is one of the most baffling declines I've seen in recent years as they didn't wildly overspend on coming up, kept a good core of players coming back down yet their away record is shocking. Think they've only taken 5 points in away games all season. They picked up more on the road in the premier league within the first four months!

Their team last year was basically some pace and Barkley dictating everything, plus a horrible ground to go to. Always thought last season an injury to Barkley and they would plummet, delighted to see it happen.

Their demise is enjoyable to watch.

I had no thoughts about them till that Luton Fan on whichever YouTube fans ch was acting as though we were a nothing team etc last year

Same here.
Every now and then a fan of a no-mark team pops up, shows a staggering lack of awareness and bad mouths us.
From this point on, I take pleasure in following their inevitable downward trajectory.

Can she play on the right?

Yeah we are safe, opta prediction is now at 0.07%

I can only put it down to post-traumatic stress disorder.

I mean, we were basically home and hosed after hammering Leicester. That was the key game. And didn't Ipswich lose at home to Southampton on the same day?

We can get the flip flops out now. Nothing from here on in matters except the final goodbye to Goodison. What happens off the pitch is WAY more significant than anything Moyes and the team might do. He has completed his mission: get us to the new stadium in the PL. It's up to the owners now to plot and fund the path ahead.
