The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

If Everton don’t pick up any more points for the rest of the season, Ipswich only have to win 6 of their remaining 7 games and could even afford to draw the 7th game. If that happens, we’re down.

I know most of you are used to being premature, but in this instance, it’s dangerous to declare ourselves safe and allow complacency to pervade through the club. We’re not safe until we’re on the entry list for next season’s Premier League roster.

They’ve been safe since that win at Palace if not even earlier. The rest has been bedwetting.

Leicester 4-0 pretty much confirmed things mentality as think Ipswich lost at home to Southampton on the same day.

It was still relatively close at the start of February but since then Ipswich and Leicester been playing with no confidence whatsoever of even having a mini run.

Think everyone else bar the bottom three will get over 40 points now, Wolves probably have another 10 points in them so some second half of the season from them considering their issues in mid December.

If Ipswich lose away to Chelsea tomorrow, the best any of the bottom 3 can do is equal our points tally at present. That would require Ipswich to win all their remaining games and us to lose all of ours. Even then our goal difference is so much better than theirs.

All but safe pending us losing every game and Ipswich winning every game following their defeat to Chelsea today, with a huge goal difference swing plus every other team below us outperforming us in the remaining games - Wolves needing to gain six points just to draw level.

Conclusion: Get down to Bram Brammers Moyesy lad.
