The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

The only teams that should give us any concern in the final games are the [Poor language removed] and Forest….the others are very ordinary this year and Newcastles season just finished today.
So a draw at The Pit and versus Forest and the rest wins. Happy days.
Newcastle's season definitely did not finish today. Fifth place is Champions League next season and they're currently sixth, a point off Chelsea in fourth and with a game in hand and still to play Chelsea at St James' Park.

Well done on persisting with your agenda.

My agenda that we weren’t going down because despite the table at the time none of the indicators pointed to us being worse than the bottom 3? I didn’t think they wouldn’t put on barely a point between them in the 10 games that have followed but I did say they looked like the worst 3 teams as they were leaking goals and being punted on a weekly basis, which has proven to be an accurate reading of them.

If we’d lost every game then we would’ve lost to Leicester so we’d be in the bottom 3.

Yes if we’d lost the 10 league games in a row since Dyche departed to make it 12 consecutive losses we’d have been in the relegation zone. Fascinating insight. Even in that most unlikely scenario, we’d still have a chance of staying up.

The bottom 3 have been trash all season, we were always better than them, most people could see that,

Dyche had us looking at Leicester and Ipswich’s results. An unfortunate fact you just have to deal with really.

With the exception of Southampton, as they have beaten us in the PL and knocked us out of the EFL cup.

You told everyone for ages that no manager would get a better tune out of these players.

Now instead of holding your hands up and accepting you were wrong, you’ve created some narrative where you were right and everyone else was wrong!

He’s now twisted it to “well you all said we were definitely going down under Dyche”. Unbelievable level of pigheadedness and stubbornness really. I would’ve thought it would be far easier to say “lads you were right, Dyche is a bottom feeder and gaslit me into thinking we were lucky to have him” and then just move on with your life.

At the time Moyes was appointed Ipswich had taken 12 points from their previous 11 games, Wolves had taken 14 from their previous 11 games and Everton had taken 9 from their previous 11 games.

Yep. I once said Matt Derbyshire was the next Alan Shearer. Sometimes I talk absolute b0llocks, but I’ll own it.
