Easy for comfortable retirees (or close to it), with no mortgage, with savings and pensions to 'take the hit'. It's the younger generations that have to live with your decision and actually take the hit. And it's a devastating hit.
Brexit on its own would not have given you this financial grief. Yes us pensioners and those who no longer have a mortgage are less affected by interest rate rises but we mostly all have children and no one would ever vote for their child or grandchildren to be worse off. Everything I’ve ever done in life has been for them and that continues to this day. The EU was costing us a fortune, and we are still paying just to get out. We effectively voted for independence. All the EU ever wanted from the U.K. was access to fishing, financial input, access to another large market, its political clout and its military support. We used to pay in and then they’d give a little bit back with an EU badge on it…all the while moving us ever closer to a United States of Europe. Our government is rightly being pilloried for some of the things going on, and that is right and proper. However, they no longer have the excuse of Europe and are having to relearn how to stand on our own two feet……
