I am also slightly perplexed by the shift from penalising and demonising people on benefits and reducing the amount paid in housing benefits, to the state supporting them to buy houses. Bit of a shift from appealing to the portion of the electorate who were all over punishing 'scroungers'?

Also utterly fails to address the imbalance of affordable rental properties to home ownership, as well as the perception that home ownership is the be all and end all. Desperate stuff from Johnson and co.

I don't know if anyone remembers the MAD comics, I think the 60's , but the picture of gove looks like Alfred E Neuman that appeared on the front page. A stupid grin. The only difference is he doen't have a tooth missing in his front teeth like Alfred had. The comic used to take the michael out of popular people at that time, such as comic interpretation of John Wayne in the film True Grit calling it True Fat.
